AfricaScope was commissioned by Nissan South Africa to assist it optimize the location of its dealerships. Africascope used accessibility modelling to identify the optimum location of new dealerships using various options. On the demand side information on where new developments are being planned and where people of a particular socio-economic character are located was used to define the tarket market. The location of existing dealerships was taken into consideration and optimum sites for new dealerships were considered. The viability of new dealerships in terms of the size of their target market and distances travelled was used in the accessibility modelling. The project was able to assist Nissan SA in identifying new sites and confirm their strategic thinking in where new dealerships should be located.
