Need population statistics for planning in African countries?Presently AfricaScope is assisting countries in Africa to rapidly capture their census data into GIS. AfricaScope is also working with African countries to ensure that their census data can be accessed in a spatial format. It is our intention to source census data for as many African countries as possible. Where this information does not exist in a spatial format we will use innovative methods to rapidly capture it.
AfricaScope is actively sourcing or developing census datasets for African countries. This information is foundational in bringing about targeted development, planning government services and locating retail outlets and encouraging private sector investment. To accomplish this, the census information is needed at the smallest spatial level possible. AfricaScope works with its national partners and national statistical offices to get access to this information. AfricaScope works with countries to capture their census data into GIS using innovative methods when it is not in a spatial format. The census data for African countries is provided at this stage only in a digital format. Where required, AfricaScope can possibly assist in providing the data in atlas or web mapping forms. Cost for the digital data, atlases and web mapping will be provided on a quotation basis and will be very dependent on sourcing costs from national agencies and publishing restrictions.
